Fireworks Sounds for Dog Training — Desensitization & Counterconditioning

A 60-minute training track of graded fireworks sounds, built for desensitization and counterconditioning — play it quietly and build up over the days before New Year's Eve, July 4th, Bonfire Night, or any other fireworks date.

This track runs through ten stages, from 60 minutes of fireworks sound down to 1 minute, so you can start at a level your dog barely notices and work down toward the real thing as their tolerance builds.

How to use it

Start 1–2 weeks before fireworks season. Play the track at a low volume while your dog does something it enjoys — eating, playing, resting calmly — then raise the volume a little each day so the sound stops predicting fear.

Why desensitisation works

Repeated, controlled exposure at a level the dog can handle teaches its nervous system that the sound is neutral. The goal isn't to mask the fireworks on the night — it's to take the threat out of the sound beforehand.

The ten levels, timestamped

If a session already went well at one level, jump straight to the next timestamp next time instead of replaying the gentler stages from the start:

  • 0:24 — Level 60 (gentlest)
  • 15:24 — Level 45
  • 30:24 — Level 30
  • 45:24 — Level 15
  • 50:24 — Level 10
  • 55:24 — Level 5
  • 56:24 — Level 4
  • 57:24 — Level 3
  • 58:24 — Level 2
  • 59:24 — Level 1 (most intense)
